Renaissance Elegance

The development of 17th century English architecture and interior furnishing design was heavily influenced by Inigo Jones (1573-1652), who was the first to bring the classical Palladian style to England after seeing and studying it during his travels to France and Italy. Following the lead of Inigo Jones, architect Sir Christopher Wren employed Roman-influenced Neoclassicism in his own designs, which made a strong imprint on the work of Robert Adam in the 18th century. Adam’s style—called Adamesque—was widely influential in England and in the American colonies. The classicism of these masters, refined more and more through the genius of each, has inspired Dwight T. Porter’s design for The Elegance billiard table. This table features a gracefully contoured cabinet constructed of alder hardwood. The cabinet style harmonizes both the bolder Palladian Neoclassism of the Renaissance with the more subtle Adamesque style in a tour-de-force of balance and symmetry.

Rails: Hand selected African sedua, inlaid diamond-shaped, genuine mother-of-pearl sights.

Cabinet: Solid Honduras mahogany standard.

Slate: Matched 1” thick, diamond honed to precise dimensions for a professional playing surface. Framed backed with poplar hardwood for increased durability.
