| Augustus was a honorific
cognomen given to the roman emperor by decree of
the Senate in 27 B. C. Succeeding rulers would
bear the honoree name. Augustus Caesar 63 B. C.
–A. D. 14. In tradition of Augustus Caesar, The
Royal Augustan designed by Dwight T. Porter, son
of world famous designer Charles A. Porter,
marks two generations of the finest
craftsmanship in billiard tables today. Porter’s
majestic lion design signifies the reign of
Augustus Caesar and that time period. Supporting
the tables are six hand carved lions, sculpted
of solid Honduras mahogany. The cabinet consists
of twelve hand carved raised panels overlaid in
Carpathian Elm Burl, which is considered one of
the rarest and most sought after exotic woods in
the world. Accented with delicate hand carved
trim, a finely fit turret adorns the center of
every Roman arch. The Royal Augustan reflects
the majestic rule of Augustus Caesar. Both
remain unsurpassed. |
