| Reminiscent of the Golden Age
of Billiards, the Caliente features six sturdy
legs, hallmarks of the famous Thurston tables
which were introduced in the early 1800’s. This
period is called the Golden Age because so many
of the original tables from Thurston and other
fine English cabinetmakers still survive today.
Both English and Italian influences are
reflected in the many details of the Caliente’s
design. Its construction of solid alder
cabinetry with deep lustrous routed reflect an
emphasis on English design, while the strong but
elegant, tapered legs echo the Italian influence
of the 1700’s. The detailed carvings are
highlighted by the tapered flutes to better shoe
the beauty of the table. Like the predecessors
that inspired it, the Caliente’s clean lines and
sturdy structure give it an enduring quality
which is sure to be appreciated by future
generations. |
